What is the DC adapter, is that a charger that you can plug into the lighter? I want to purchase this gps, but it only says 2 hours of battery life.

yes the DC adapter plugs into your lighter and that way you would be able to charge your battery for up to two hours if not more.
I just keep mine plugged in, its not that big of a deal.
Its a great gps by the way.....
