When I go to "Tool" and select Clear Private Data-browsing history, I don't get the results. Also, when I highlight an item in the navigation box and hit delete, it deletes it for the moment, but it reappears when I go to the drop down menu.I am using Mozilla Firefox 3.01.I have tried everything through the tools-options but nothing has worked. The data is still there!
Also how can I prevent the navigation tool bar from storing data?

The Tools >> Options >> Privacy then Private Data only clears the following Private Data:
Browsing History
Download History
Save Forms and Search History
Cache
Cookies
Offline Web Site Data
Saved Passwords
Authenticated Sessions
It doesn't clear whatever URL you place in the Bookmark, thus whenever you use to clear the Private Data, as enumerated above, no amount of choosing to clear everything; the same information contained in the Bookmark would still be there. This is "new" with FF3.0.1 wherein there is this "Recently Bookmarked" feature which adds the most recent URL you bookmarked. It would still appear in there even if you removed that "recently" added bookmark.
You could delete this feature by: going to Bookmarks>> Recently Bookmarked, right click then Delete. Exit FF, which should save whatever changes you made, then restart. To restore, view: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Restore+the+default+Smart+Bookmarks+Folders
To remove the Bookmarks Folder, just click on View, Toolbars and click Bookmarks Toolbar. This should remove the check on the Bookmarks Toolbar and hide that toolbar from view.
To remove the URLs in the bookmark, you can select it one by one and delete, but to delete them altogether, close Firefox, then open WIndows Explorer then go to "C:\Documents and Settings\{User}\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" then choose the folder name *.default [Note: {User} is your computer account name; and *.default is a random 8-alphanumeric character appended with default.] Then look for bookmarks.bak; bookmarks.html highlight/choose them then right-click and choose delete. When you restart Firefox, ALL Bookmarked URLs will be GONE!
